Welcome to the webinar ‘Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy: Principles, Practice and Clinical Realities’.

Join Dr Jonathan Laugharne for an insightful webinar on the fundamental principles of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, with a focus on MDMA and psilocybin in psychiatric practice.

Psychedelic medicines, when used to facilitate a psychotherapy process, may offer a different and potentially powerful way for patients to access emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and traumatic memories that may be difficult to reach in standard therapy.

This presentation will explore the science, neuroscience, mechanisms of action, research evidence, the legal framework in Australia, and practical, real-world clinical experience of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. It will also offer participants a glimpse into the experiential aspect of treatment from the patient’s perspective.

Dr Laugharne will provide practical guidance on:

  • The core principles of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy
  • MDMA and psilocybin: science, neuroscience and mechanisms
  • Research evidence and clinical outcomes
  • The legal and regulatory framework in Australia
  • Practical, real-world experience in delivering treatment
  • The patient experience and the experiential dimension of therapy

This presentation will strengthen your understanding of the principles, evidence, and clinical considerations underpinning psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.
