Speaker profile – A/Prof Neil Jeyasingam
Clinical Associate Professor Neil Jeyasingam is a psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and a psychodynamic psychotherapy supervisor.
A former research scholar of the Institute of Psychiatry (Sydney) and Institute of Psychiatry (UK), he obtained his medical degree and psychiatry training in Sydney, then proceeded to have advanced training at the Maudsley in London. He holds a double masters in Psychiatry and Business (Health Administration), and has over forty publications, including a textbook chapter in “Psychodynamic Approaches to the Experience of Dementia”. In public practice, he is the clinical director for mental health services in a major regional centre, wherein he established Australia’s first publicly funded multimodal psychotherapy service. He is one of the founding members of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry’s Faculty of Psychotherapy and is a college case examiner. He thinks psychotherapy is the most powerful – and dangerous – intervention available in clinical practice.
Dr Sanil Rege is a highly qualified consultant psychiatrist and academic, with dual qualifications from the UK and Australia. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK).
