Welcome to the webinar ‘The ANZJP GRADE Guidelines for the Management of Schizophrenia 2026’.

Join Professor Dan Siskind and Professor Shuichi Suetani for a clinically grounded overview of the ANZJP GRADE guidelines for the management of schizophrenia (2026). This webinar focuses on how to apply evidence-based recommendations within an individualised, collaborative formulation and how the GRADE framework clarifies certainty of evidence and strength of recommendations for real-world decision-making.

In this session, Professors Siskind and Suetani will:

  • Walk through the guideline architecture and what “strong vs conditional” recommendations mean in practice.
  • Review first-episode psychosis assessment: organic differentials, baseline investigations, and longitudinal physical health monitoring.
  • Discuss antipsychotic selection: balancing efficacy, tolerability, side-effect burden, and patient priorities across illness stages.
  • Summarise evidence for psychological and psychosocial interventions, including options when medication is declined.
  • Cover key domains across the course of illness: comorbidity, substance use, lifestyle and physical health, and family/whānau/carer involvement, including considerations for special populations.

Register to strengthen your understanding of graded recommendations and their practical application in contemporary schizophrenia care.
