Course Description

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) – A Practical Guide

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), also called myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), is a disabling and complex clinical condition affecting the brain and body with profound and persistent fatigue. Our course, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) – A Practical Guide, is designed to provide healthcare professionals with a thorough grounding in the complexities of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

We begin by discussing the epidemiology of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, delving into their history, prevalence, risk factors, and societal impacts. We address the classification of CFS and the neurobiological, pathophysiological, and systemic pathophysiological factors of this condition.

The course also identifies the diagnostic criteria for CFS. By ruling out organic causes of symptoms, assessing and treating comorbid conditions, and diagnosing CFS based on the revised Canadian Consensus Diagnostic Criteria, participants can accurately diagnose and differentiate CFS/ME from other conditions with similar presentations.

A key section of the course covers new treatments for CFS. We explore the latest advancements in both pharmacological and non-pharmacological management, offering insights into emerging therapies and holistic approaches.

By the end of this course, participants should have a comprehensive understanding of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and be knowledgeable in the pharmacological and non-pharmacological management strategies of this condition.
